I have lived with three Americans in my life. Based on this sample, 66% of Americans don’t turn off TV when they go out of the room. In other words, they keep their TV on when they go take a shower, when they go do some hard work, or even when they go shopping. I know the power a TV consumes in negligible (15 cents an hour or something) but considering how much TV Americans watch (or keep turned on), I wonder a household could save up probably enough money for a drink at a local bar by being power conscious.
I notice this because my mother turns on TV exactly when the program she wants to watch comes on and turns her TV off right after. So she turns her TV on at 6:57pm to check the weather for the next day and turns it off at 6:59pm.
Just an observation….
